The Boston Pops is an American musical tradition and the leading organization of its kind in the world. Entering its 128th year in 2013 the Boston Pops features gifted musicians and has been lead by such genius conductors as Arthur Fiedler, John Williams and now Keith Lockhart. The allure of the Pops draws sell-out audiences throughout the United States.
The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra first visited the Valley in 1996 and was a spectacular success. The inaugural presentation evolved into an annual trip to kick-off the holidays for several years thereafter — and became recognized as one of the signature events of the season. Capacity crowds reveled in the music – - from CEO’s to young children, everyone sang along, sharing the spirit with popular conductor Keith Lockhart leading the festivities.
The Boston Pops has touring commitments throughout the United States and prime dates are scarce in the limited holiday period. As a result, it’s been a decade since we’ve been able to schedule the Pops to play the market. Our effort to rekindle this epic music spectacular has proven successful. We’re pleased to announce the Boston Pops with storied Conductor Keith Lockhart will return to the Valley on Saturday, November 16th 2013 at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa.
The Best of the Boston Pops will showcase programs featuring a wide variety of American music styles, show-stopping songs of Broadway and from Hollywood film classics. With the holidays just around the corner, the event will feature a medley of Christmas and seasonal favorites — and a highlight will be the Patriotic Sing-Along comprised of America’s most heartfelt songs. The evening will conclude with a rousing finale featuring a fireworks spectacular choreographed to Tchaikovsky’s Overture of 1812. Without a doubt, the Best of the Boston Pops is certain to be one of the most memorable musical experiences of the year in the Valley.
